Dr. Richard Juman
President

RG PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES, founded by Dr. Richard Juman, provides psychological services to independent facilities, including nursing homes, rehab centers, assisted living facilities, and adult day health care programs across New York State. The most prevalent disorders treated by the group are mood disorders, adjustment reactions and behavioral problems.

Prior to founding RG Psychological Services, Dr. Juman was Senior Psychologist at the largest New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation Long Term Care facility. Working with New York's most chronically ill geriatric residents, he became expert in the psychotherapeutic and behavioral treatment of the geriatric mentally ill. In addition, he gained insight into the societal, political and financial pressures that impinge upon our eldest citizens. He has personally treated hundreds of geriatric patients in acute care hospitals, outpatient centers, state psychiatric facilities and chemical dependency centers.

Dr. Juman lectures extensively on a variety of general issues pertaining to the elderly as well as on specific problems of aging such as Alzheimer's disease, psychiatric and addictive disorders and the medication-free treatment of persistent psychiatric problems and behaviors. He is a member of the American Psychological Association's Division of Adult Development and Aging, the Gerontological Society of America, and numerous other regional and local organizations involved with the aging process.

Robert Frazer MA, MPA, LNHA

As a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, prior to joining RG, Bob Frazer served as Administrator for Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing facilities throughout Long Island, Westchester and New York City for the past 18 years.  He has obtained two graduate degrees from New York University including an MPA specializing in Health Care Administration, has been a featured guest on cable television, and has published in Current Therapy in Physiatry/Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Frazer possesses a wealth of knowledge about long term care and the challenges of bringing quality care to the resident population, along with an extensive comprehension and appreciation of the regulatory environment.

Martha Becker MPA
Clinical Liaison

Martha is a part time clinical liaison for RG. She is a clinical and management consultant with graduate degrees in educational psychology and public administration, specializing in health care administration. 

Martha is a former Board member of Veritas Therapeutic Community and the East Harlem Council for Community Improvement (Promesa).  She is a current member of the American Psychological Association, New York State Psychological Association, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health and the American Institute of Stress.

Martha's combination of consulting, management and clinical experience is an asset in her ability to address management, clinical and interpersonal issues, all of which are entailed in her clinical liaison work for RG.

Dr. Robert W. Figlerski

Dr. Figlerski is Regional Clinical Director of psychological services for RG Psychological Services. Dr. Figlerski received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Hofstra University in 1984.

During his training and the following years he has concentrated his clinical, educational, and research efforts in the area of Health Psychology and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Figlerski joined RG Psychological Services in 1997. He presents on a wide variety of clinical topics relevant to skilled nursing and is a frequent presenter at New York State Conferences.

Dr. Eric Neblung
Clinical Liaison

Dr. Neblung supervises psychological services in five skilled nursing & rehabilitation settings in Rockland County.  In this capacity, he oversees the work of other psychologists as they provide psychological services to approximately 1,000 people.

Psychotherapy has been proven effective in the treatment of depression, anxiety, addictions, coping with medical illness, and a range of other mental health concerns.

To keep informed of new developments in the field of psychology, Dr. Neblung maintains membership in a number of professional organizations.

Dr. Neblung has extensive  experience in geriatric psychology & psychotherapy with older persons.  Issues often addressed include depression, bereavement, nursing home / assisted living placement, dementia and health related concerns (e.g., chronic pain, medication compliance, etc.).

Dr. Jerome Norton
Director of Cognitive Assessment & Rehabilitation Services

Jerome Norton, Psy.D. MSCP
Dr. Norton received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at John F. Kennedy University and his Post-doctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology at the California School of Professional Psychology. He was formally trained in neuropsychological assessment at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and San Francisco General Hospital and subsequently in forensic assessment at Napa State Hospital through its affiliation with the University of California, Davis' Department of Forensic Psychiatry.

Since relocating to New York in 2004, Dr. Norton has remained active in the fields of gerontology and rehabilitation medicine as a clinician with RG Psychological Services and has remained active in the field of forensic psychology as a supervising psychologist at Rikers Island, New York City's jail complex and as a New York State appointed Court Evaluator. He additionally maintains an active assessment & consultation practice in the fields of Intellectual Disability and Vocational Rehabilitation.

Dr. Alan Shapiro

Since 1997, Dr. Alan Shapiro has served in the role of Clinical Director in the greater Albany region for RG Psychological Services, where he currently oversees twenty clinicians in approximately forty long-term care facilities.

During his 30 years as a psychologist, and prior to his tenure with RG Psychological Services, Dr. Shapiro has maintained a private practice, published numerous books and articles on an assortment of psychological topics, and held academic positions at SUNY at Oneonta and the College of Saint Rose.  

An innovator in the areas of resident care, family support systems and staff development in the long-term care arena, Dr. Shapiro is a frequently featured speaker at professional conferences throughout New York State.

Dr. Joanne Shea

Dr. Shea is a licensed clinical psychologist who has dedicated her career to serving the medical rehabilitation and geriatric populations. She is proud to have been a part of RG's growth and success since its early days.

Her prior experience includes interdisciplinary work within the largest NYC long term care facility, neuropsychological assessment and remediation at a premier comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation center, and administration of an outpatient facility.

Dr. Shea uses a team oriented, down to earth style to bring out the best skills of RG's psychologists and promote job satisfaction. Her action-packed schedule includes the provision of much direct clinical service as well. She finds great reward in facilitating quality of life and achievement of personal goals among the physically, cognitively and psychiatrically disabled.

Her mission is to enable patients to rise above limitation and come to appreciate their value and the validity of their life experience, whether within a facility or a community setting.

     
     


PROMINENT PRACTITIONER CAROL D. GOODHEART ELECTED 2010 PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

She has been integral in helping psychology respond to the evidence-based practice movement within APA and throughout the profession. She was chair of the APA Presidential Task Force on Evidence Based Practice, which developed guidelines for psychologists who want to better serve their clients. In all, she has more than two decades of experience in APA governance that include service on APA's Finance Committee and as treasurer. Goodheart has received many awards from APA divisions and state psychological associations, including the 2007 Distinguished Psychologist Award for Contributions to Psychology and Psychotherapy from APA's Division of Psychotherapy.
